Even great writers make errors. It’s not always easy to spot them, however, especially when they are your own. That’s where the work of an editor or proofreader comes in.
Editing and proofreading can make your writing better. Whether it’s the final check on a polished piece of writing or the more in-depth work of a developmental edit, the work of an editor or proofreader can make your writing more accurate, consistent and comprehensible.
I am a former third level teacher and have completed comprehensive certificate courses in proofreading and editing. I have also completed intensive courses on specific topics, including writing and editing for the web.
I am a full member of AFEPI (the Association of Editors, Proofreaders and Indexers in Ireland) and an advanced professional member (APM) of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP). I provide editing services directly for academics, students and other authors, and for publishers and businesses.

*When I established my business in 2013 I chose the business name Dot Your Eyes Editing and Proofreading. However, I soon realised that it was my personal name that clients remembered and recommended to others, and I have recently changed my business name to reflect this. I am currently working on building a new online presence, but until I have a new website built to reflect the changes, my website remains www.dotyoureyes.ie, though my business name is simply Gráinne Treanor. Look out for www.grainnetreanor.com from late January 2020!
